Deal It Twice Feature
What is Running It Twice?
Dealing it twice is something that is done in cash games. This became popular because it was done in some of the high stakes poker games. When you run the deck twice, it means that 2 sets of cummunity cards are put on the board. If you win 1 board and lose the other, the pot will be split. You have to win both times in order to win the pot if you decide to deal it twice.
If a player goes all in on the flop or turn and the players agree to run it twice, only the turn and river card will be dealt twice. The same flop will be used for both community boards.
You will be able to identify the cash tables where you can run it twice by looking at the left hand column just like in the screen shot below. The table will be named using the phrase "Run It Twice".
Why Deal It Twice?
When you run it twice you eliminate some of the variation that will normally occur as a result of luck in the game of poker. It becomes harder to win the pot, but it also becomes harder to lose. Over the longrun, running it twice has no effect on your EV.
You can't run it twice at all of the tables on Aced.com. You can only do this in cash games and at specific tables.
An Example of Dealing It Twice
You have the Ace-King of spades and the flop comes down 2-5-9 with 2 spades. You set your opponent all-in and he calls the bet; flipping over pocket jacks. Since he has the best hand but is not a large favorite over your hand, you agree to deal the cards twice.
Now a turn card is dealt that pairs the board, and the revier does not complete your hand either. Your opponent has won the first board. The turn and river cards are pushed aside and they are out of play at this point... Now another turn card is dealt that completes your flush, and your opponent is drawing dead on the river when the second river card is dealt.
In this instance the pot would be split in half because you each won once. If you had made your flush the first and second time, you would win the whole pot. If you didn't improve your hand on either occasion, you would lose the whole pot.
So you can start to see that dealing the deck twice makes it harder to win twice, but it also makes it harder to lose twice. This is the reason that this is done in the high stakes poker games. When there is a lot of money on the line some players like to lower their potential variance at the poker table
